About:

Herberg-aan-See is a non-profit assisted living home in Gansbaai that provides a range of care and accommodation options for residents who are 60 years and older. The home’s frail care unit is well-supervised with around the clock nursing services available. There are single unfurnished rooms available in the home for residents who are self-sufficient and only require minimal assistance. Added to the Herberg-aan-See compliment is a free-standing block with single and couples flats for retirees. The carefully selected team of staff at Herberg-aan-See believe in personalised and compassionate care of the elderly and take joy in ensuring residents receive the best possible care.  

The residents at Herberg-aan-See keep enjoy activities that include:

Type(s) of accommodation offered; 

  • Approximately 90% of our Residents are frail care patients who requires assistant living. 

  • For Residents that are self-sufficient we have single rooms available within the facility and also single/double flats on our grounds. 

Furnished vs Unfurnished Rooms; 

  • The rooms for our frail care residents are furnished with hospital beds and the necessary equipment/furniture to assist in their daily needs. 

  • Most of our frail care rooms are also fitted with TV’s 

  • Our single rooms and flats are unfurnished. Residents are welcome to bring their own preferred furniture to suit their individual needs. 

Services and Care provided in the monthly rentals: 

  • 24-Hour Nursing care 

  • 24-Hour St. John’s Paramedic and Ambulance service in the case of an emergency. Including week-ends & public holidays. 

  • Breakfast, lunch & light meal in the evening for Residents who reside within the Home. 

  • Lunch is provided for residents who reside in the flats. 

  • Washing and ironing of clothes every Wednesday for Residents within the Home 

  • Washing and ironing of clothes every Friday for residents in the flats. 

  • Hair Salon - Thursday’s wash & blow dry and Friday’s cutting of hair. This service is free of charge, but donations are always welcome. 

  • Hand & Feet care – cutting of finger- and toe nails. This service is also free of charge, but donations are always welcome. 

  • Library service every 2nd week – books from Gansbaai Library 

  • DSTV subscription packages are available for residents who wish to subscribe. The monthly fee is at a special rate & for the residents’ own account. 

  • We have an open-door policy for all our residents and visitors, treating our residents as family with their needs/health being our first priority.
